What is a theatre producer? what does the role involve? 

This Introductory course will look at how emerging producers can hone their skills to be able to articulate themselves as producers.

HOME in partnership with Stage One and New Earth Theatre are running an intensive 4-day taster course exploring what it means to be a theatre producer, how to get into producing, and for self-producing artists more about what it means to produce your own work.

Sessions will be led by industry professionals from HOME, Arts Council England and Stage One alongside Independent Producers Sarah Jordan Verghese, Justina Aina, Sekeenat Karim and Art with Heart Theatre Company.

Sessions will cover; introduction to producing, the role of a producer, the relationship between makers and producers, funding opportunities and finding your creative team.

Lunch will be provided each day, and there is up to £100 training bursary per person to help with any additional costs.

Who is it for?

This is an opportunity for people (over 18 years of age) who are interested in exploring a career as a producer, an early career producer or you may be an artist who is producing your own work and want to upskill. The course is specifically aimed at people from communities presently under-represented in theatre because of social, financial, racial, cultural, geographic or educational disadvantage or disability. You must be living in Greater Manchester or able to travel into Manchester, as accommodation is not provided.

The FREE course will take place at HOME in Manchester, 25 Mar – 28 Mar 2024.
